UNDER THE MILKY WAY
Ok As its been a while since I did anything blog related due to the loss of my camera, here is the Kilau show, presented in reverse:
Katie's Mum presides over the opening about an hour in, carefully shot so it looks busy, well done Eric.
The finished article, first new work since the degree show.
Mere hours before it fell down.
Eoin helping me attach the big bulky bits to the wall.
Stage one, the Gaffer tape years finally complete.
Shitey photoshop mock up of what it will look like, hopefully.
A visual of bits and pieces attached to the schematic with some sort of order.
And the original Ebow schematic what I have ripped off, the secret key to the success of my work.

SAVE ART IN ABERDEEN
Dear all,
You have probably heard about our plans for a new centre for contemporary art in Aberdeen's Union Terrace Gardens. It would incorporate the current activities of Peacock Visual Arts, the city’s Arts Development and Education Teams and the contemporary dance company, CityMoves. The project has the support of Aberdeen City Council, the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Enterprise Grampian. For detailed information and images of the model please visit our website: http://www.peacockvisualarts.com/about-us/the-new-building
The application for planning permission has now been submitted and the period of public consultation ends on 9 August. Some objections have been lodged which claim that the proposal “would not be sympathetic to the gardens, would erode completely the character of Union Terrace, destroying the listed arcade and eliminating the last few remnants of the Forest of Stocket”. The objectors conclude by suggesting that the Triple Kirks would provide a more appropriate location for the project. Ironically, we looked very closely at this site but its complications and cost put it beyond the budget and time-frame of the project.
The attached letter addresses these objections.
We believe it would help tremendously if the Planning Department were also to receive letters of support from people who do want to see Aberdeen have its own centre for contemporary art. If you wish you could print and send a copy of the letter to the Council’s Planning Department. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit. Also do please give copies to anyone you know who might also want to help.
If you could spare a minute to support the project, we would be most grateful. Do please note that the deadline for such submissions is next Thursday, 9 August.
If you have any questions, or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks,
Kind regards,
--

And the Summer Trundles on...
Whats the deal with the bank of scotland advert featuring "Beth of Stranraer"? She appears to live in some sort of beautifully idylic hamlet of stone buildings, large country houses and greenhouses and stuff. It makes me wonder if there is another Stranraer in Scotland, which is not a burnt out depressing dive. I cant find any pictures online that show the depravity of the place, but you'll have to take my word for it.
Speaking of pictures, I am now digital camera-less after misplacing it at the Wickerman Festival. Was looking forwards to making picture blog stuff of the burning of the wicker bastard, alas I canna, unless I steal some photos from somewhere. This also means that the chances of blogs with pictures of stuff i've been doing might be few and far between. Not that there is actually anyone reading. Also its not as though my blogs are regular anyway.
Been in Glasgow this weekend for my mate Graham's first ever gig, was very very good, amazing crowd and the afterparty was a bit mental. Got talking to a guy about music and kept slagging bands then discovering he was mates with them. Oops. Dont think he was offended though, cause he didnt loose his temper and kept talking to me. The first six issues have gone on sale in Transmission in Glasgow, will be in The Embassy in Edinburgh by next week, One Up, Kilau, Peacocks and Aberdeen Art Gallery nearer the homestead and will be available at the Make Stand at next weeks Pitenweem Arts Fesival. Buy it!
Finally, how could I ever think the Simpsons could fail me? I wasnt sure what to make of the Simpsons movie, but I laughed from the beginning to the end almost constantly. The naked Skateboarding was great, as was Harry Porker. I cant remember much of it so I'll need to get it on DVD or go see it again perhaps. Who knows?
Here is a poster for my next Exhibition anyway.

Cake is the product of a braintwiz of an unemployed art student living in glasgow who's flat burned down shortly after. This student was spending his idle hours in an empty four bedroom flat in Glasgow working on a comic version of an old story and wanted to put together a comic with a few different people. Eventually other than comic works he began inviting other art forms like drawings, prose, critical writing and the like.
After a few months the first issue was compiled and printed with funding from Limousine Bull in Aberdeenand launched with an exhibition featuring works by the contributing artists. Issue two appeared shortly after and then there was a gap of a few months and a third issue, produced by Justin Orde then nothing.
But now......
Its coming back.

Hello World!
What a weekend, jeez, non stop flash cutting craziness of a weekend.
Down to Stranraer, up to Edinburgh....back home. Party was alright, although there were random bouts of undesirables showing up and being shown out by James practicing his cop routine. Then he flew off to cologne, which is in France and not Germany as I thought. It's too soft sounding to be German. Perhaps it was a gift.
Saw Hot Fuzz, it was good.

RIP Bambi
I killed a baby deer tonight.
Not very proud of myself.
Was driving to Stranraer and coming up over the hill after Ballantrae, came round a corner and there was a deer crossing the road, i swerved to miss it, and hit its pal. Very ashamed and guilty, never killed anything before, except birds early in the morning with the car and ants.
Anyway, last night was blogless as I was off wining and dining at the Arts event of the year, in Aberdeen at least. David Blyth, Ross Sinclair and Dalziel and Pascoe, oopps I mean Scullian. Was very busy and full of the whos who of the Aberdeen Scene, groovin and a-jiving. Loved Ross Sinclair's stuff, couldnt be arsed with D+S and didnt get much of a chance to see Davids. Although gained a strange affinity with it after the Deer incident, cause there were all these stuffed lambs, and kinda think about them a bit more having killed a young animal.
Oh I'm going to bed in a shower of guilt.

Entertainment News in brief:
Robbie Williams cant think of anything to write songs about so announces he is going to Rehab to gain his fix of media attention. Why can't he just go into rehab without having to announce it to the world?

Pete Doherty breaks the law again and still doesn't go to prison.
Police reform, which is thought o bring about an end to the anarchy which was caused when they threw in their truncheons and went off to follow solo careers. Scotland Yard Bar and Grill is said to be returning to its former status as MET HQ.

Helen Mirren wins Oscar for her Performance as Freddie Mercury in "The Queen"
Blog?
Hmm, this is a blog eh?
Set this thing up to try and do something mildly productive. At the moment i am writing but nobody is listening. There is some crap with Richard Madelly on the telly.
Anyway I will endevour to post an image or a video or some random spouting every day. A large undertaking, will probably fall into disuse.
Anyway trying to put together my website so I'll pop something up from that to kick things off.
